The Villages are located in central Florida, in the counties of Sumter County, Lake County, and Marion County. In the largest senior city in the world are supermarkets, bars and restaurants, from belly dancing to synchronized swimming, everything your heart desires is offered. What at first glance looks like the fulfillment of the American dream - not only in old age - cracks on closer inspection. Because maintaining this bubble is harming nature and the inhabitants of the surrounding area.
Valerie Blankenbyl was born in Austria in 1984. After studying graphic design and advertising in Vienna and an artist-in-residence stay at Fabrica in Italy, she completed a master's degree in film directing at the Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland. She has lived in different countries and directed three full-length documentaries, including THE BUBBLE.
