Short film program | 2019 - 2023 | 88 min. | OV with English Subtitles
Leaves sway in rooms that have lapsed into silence, colourful flowers appear where people themselves have had to disappear. The seemingly silent witnesses entwine themselves around the places of the events; they continue to grow even when everything around them has already changed. As bearers of a widely ramified memory, plants overgrow past revolutions, comment on centuries-old conflicts or open up a view of a future in which everything was destroyed in the past.
PARALLEL BOTANY
US 2023 | D: Magdalena Bermudez | 11 min.
How can we look without destroying what we see? How can we get to the heart of the matter without opening the fruit? Erotically charged still lifes of fruit and plants meet her botanical illustrations. Initially hesitant, then increasingly demanding, the film dissects the plants, penetrating to their very depths and thus opening up a programme that is dedicated to a timid and demanding look into the depths.

THE CYAN GARDEN
CN 2022 | Peng Zuqiang | 8min.
Between 1969 and 1981, the Malaysian communist underground radio station "Voice of the Malayan Revolution" resided in the building that was soon to become a resort. While love songs play in the background, leaves blow through the windows from the garden, tentatively venturing into the shielded interior. Revolutionary bodies clash with contemporary urbanisation and stifled romance in the garden.

Seventy-year-old Mihály Fekete has filled his house with works of art by his daughter Réka, with holiday slides, letters and videos. There is an absence in the abundance of memories: Mihály and Réka haven't spoken to each other for years. Time slowly slips away as the trees continue to grow.
