Mare lives with her partner and their three children near Dubrovnik airport. Between the blue of the Croatian coast and the grey, fenced-in runways of the airport, she is living her daily life: marked by fading intimacy, arguments with her pubescent son and care work. In the background, the constant thundering of the planes can be heard - underlining the desire for freedom and escape. Painfully omnipresent, this embodies the longing not only to watch the planes, but to set off oneself. And suddenly Mare meets a person who embodies this longing and she completely entangles in this romantic dream.

Andrea Štaka (1973) is a director and screenwriter. She studied film at the Zurich University of the Arts. Her debut film DAS GOLDENE FRÄULEIN won the Golden Leopard in LOCARNO. MARE is her third feature film as well as her third collaboration with Marija Škaričić.
